The Hillside Hideaway is perched on the hill of our 2-acre property, with a gorgeous view of the ridges of nearby hills. Our cabin is stocked with all of the things you'll need to enjoy your stay. Here's how our family likes to spend our days at the cabin:

  • Enjoying the fresh air on a long walk

  • Sitting on the screen porch playing board games while watching the sunset

  • Cooking delicious dinners (our kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, oils, and spices)

  • Roasting hot dogs s'mores in our large fire pit

  • Playing cornhole (provided)

  • Swinging on our tree swing or hammock

Want to go "off-property" and explore the surrounding area at Lake Wappapello or in Poplar Bluff, MO? Here are our family's top picks:

  • Pack a picnic and head to Lake Wappapello State Park for a day of swimming at the beach (~2 miles from the cabin)

  • Rent a boat for a day from Chaonia Landing Marina and relax on the lake (~4 miles from the cabin)

  • Hike one of the many trails at Lake Wappapello State Park

  • Enjoy a delicious Mexican dinner on the patio at Las Brisas Cantina & Grill at The Camp (~12 miles from the cabin. Check their Facebook page for hours) 

  • Bring your fishing poles and catch some fish. Lake Wappapello is home to some of Missouri's most sought-after fish, including largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, white bass, and catfish.
